Project Description
For this project, Iowa State University (ISU) needed assistance replacing existing roof services. Work included removing existing ballasted roof system down to structure.
Scope of Work
The scope included replacing multiple roof sections at multiple levels with different vintages as the building was modified through the years in coordination with RMH Architects.
Challenge Faced
The roof was home to mechanical equipment spanning the 40-year history of the building, much of which was to be limited in shutdown time.
Project Outcome
The project is ongoing. Mechanical equipment locations and areas served were mapped by RCE. This allowed the Owner and contractor understand the impact of equipment removal. Equipment is being systematically removed and re-installed as roofing is replaced. Shutdowns are scheduled with advanced notice with the Owner’s representative as the contracting team works its way around the building.
