McFarland Clinic Marshalltown Recognized for Energy Efficiency

We are excited to announce that Alliant Energy has recognized the McFarland Clinic in Marshalltown, Iowa as a recipient of the 2023 Excellence in Energy-Efficient Design Awards for outstanding efforts to reduce energy use!

This award is a part of the Commercial New Construction program offered by Alliant Energy. The program helps offset energy-efficient design strategies by providing energy design assistance and energy efficiency incentives to commercial customers for new construction, additions and renovation projects.

The award was presented the award at the 2023 American Institute of Architects Iowa Convention, Congruence, which took place September 21-22, 2023 in Des Moines, IA.

Another design element that make this project unique is the indoor air quality design. Although the McFarland Clinic Marshalltown project was designed prior to the release of ASHRAE Standard 241, Control of Infectious Aerosols, our design complies with most of the requirements of ASHRAE’s newest standard. Standard 241 establishes minimum requirements aimed at reducing the risk of disease transmission through exposure to infectious aerosols in buildings.
