Project Description
The project replaced existing hot water heating boilers, along with pumps and accessories. Hot water perimeter heat was also added for most normally occupied spaces. Existing supply air terminal unit air-flows were adjusted to improve occupant comfort.
Scope of Work
RCE served as the prime consultant for the project, providing mechanical engineering services, with AEI serving as electrical engineering sub-consultant, and INVISION Architecture providing architectural services.
Challenge Faced
A key challenge was addressing building comfort issues without replacing existing system components. Additionally, the project was completed with the building occupied, so modifications were designed to limit impact on space occupants during the construction period.
Project Outcome
New equipment was added to address comfort issues during the heating season, while modifications to existing system operations were implemented to improve occupant comfort during the cooling season. Coordination with the contractors was completed in an effort to limit impact on occupants during project construction. Feedback indicates that the modifications have significantly improved comfort within the building.
