Project Description  

For this project, D.R.A. Properties needed mechanical and plumbing assistance designing a daycare center in Ankeny, Iowa.

Scope of Work  

RCE served as the sub-consultant, providing mechanical engineering services. The scope included mechanical heating/cooling/ventilation and plumbing design in coordination with Imprint Architects and Tesdell Electric.

Challenge Faced 

The requirement for ventilation for a daycare is very high compared to what is needed for heating and cooling, so a dedicated outdoor air system with energy recovery was installed to dehumidify air before entering the building.

Project Outcome 

The project was completed in Spring of 2020 and the dedicated outdoor air unit continues to deliver fresh, dehumidified air to each room building to nurture early childhood learning.
