Talons Clubhouse

Project Description

Resource Consulting Engineers was engaged to design the Talons Clubhouse Event Space — a multi-use facility built to host conferences, weddings, and large community events. The building brings together a wide range of functions, including a main event hall, two commercial kitchens, golf cart storage, a workout area, retail space, clubhouse dining, a bar, and full locker room facilities. As a result, the design required versatile and efficient systems to support a variety of occupancy and operational needs.

Scope of Work

Our mechanical design team provided HVAC and ventilation systems tailored to the building’s diverse functions. Specifically, the design included twin dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS) for ventilation, gas-fired kitchen make-up air units with DX cooling, and a variable refrigerant volume (VRV) system for high-efficiency heating and cooling. Additionally, we integrated a direct digital control (DDC) system to maintain peak energy performance throughout the year.

Challenge Faced

Coordinating climate control across a wide variety of space types — from humid kitchens to large gathering halls — presented several challenges. Not only did we need a flexible system, but we also had to ensure long-term serviceability. Therefore, we included a dedicated service vestibule in the upper attic to allow easy access to mechanical equipment. The design also had to accommodate fluctuations in occupancy, which required precise zoning and system responsiveness.

Project Outcome

In the end, the result is a highly functional, energy-efficient event space with reliable ventilation, comfort control, and long-term system manageability. Equipment is fully accessible and easy to service, while the DDC system ensures operational efficiency year-round. As a result, the Talons Clubhouse now serves as a premier destination for events of all kinds.
