Project Description
Full retrofit of existing HVAC system serving Winterset City Hall. Building is historic Carnegie Library building, and had been renovated approximately 15 years prior. Modifications included removal and replacement of ceilings to allow for new duct and equipment installation.
Scope of Work
RCE served as Prime Consultant, providing mechanical and electrical engineering services, with OPN Architects serving as an Architectural sub-consultant.
Challenge Faced
Historic building had significant temperature and humidity control issues with the existing HVAC system. Due to the age of the building and the size of the building, very limited ceiling and mechanical space was available for new ductwork and equipment.
Project Outcome
The system was designed to address temperature and humidity control issues. Detailed coordination of ductwork and equipment was completed to allow for installation of the new system, and low-profile LED lighting was added to the lower level of the building to allow for new duct routing. The customer has been happy with the improvements in temperature and humidity control in the building.
